Castello Infinity Suites - Adults Only

Looking for somewhere warm to just kick back, relax and do as little as possible we probably looked at 100+ boutique hotels and resorts around the Med, until we came across Castello Infinity in Ayia Pelagia and something from the pictures and reviews said "this was the one". And it certainly did not let us down in a delightful and relaxing week. Everything we could have asked for and more. The Hotel is only twenty minutes around the headland from the airport at Heraklion and we’d strongly recommend a taxi transfer that delivers you to the door. 20 minutes from walking out of arrivals at the airport. The hotel is sited at one end of the calm bay and beach-front of Ayia Pelagia, which itself is a small but delightful village nestled against the clear blue waters of Crete’s north coast. A very slick, friendly and professional welcome, but more about the fantastic staff at Castello later. We had booked quite late and had an Aquamarine mountain rather than sea view suite, which turned out to be a stroke of luck due to the hotel’s position within the local topography. And thus we found ourselves in room 1201 on the second floor, and being the first room on the corridor enjoying an expansive and more spacious balcony area. The room was a very good size, with fairly minimalist but fitting decor. Important points about any hotel: Pillows - excellent; mattress - verging on the firm side of firm but very comfortable; Shower Pressure - excellent with both a waterfall and hand held shower; Hot Water - plentiful. Add to this plentiful wardrobe and shelving space; coffee machine; safe; a wonderful standalone full length mirror, effective air-con; excellent wi-fi, electronically controlled black out blinds including bedside controls; and the ubiquitous large TV - not that we flew to Crete to watch television. Lovely bathroom; both room and beach towels provided. Everything pristinely clean. Big tick. But somewhat pales in comparison when you step out onto the west facing and spacious balcony. Two very comfortable sun loungers, a spacious area for the table and two chairs; and the piece de resistance the plunge pool glistening in the sun. A good size being probably around 3m long and 1.75m across. 180 degree view from the balcony taking in the fairly steep hillsides rising up from the village and giving a spectacular view of the beach front and much of the bay. Given the aspect somewhat shaded in the morning, but the table and plunge pool picked up the sun from mid morning, and the whole balcony not long thereafter until the sun started to set behind the mountains. Whilst not the more premium suites offered by the hotel we’d much prefer this over the ground floor mezzanine suites. On the tick list: Balcony even bigger tick. The restaurant and bar area is mainly outside on the first floor of the hotel with tables set to offer a wonderful view of the beach front and sea. This hotel was a bit of a surprise package to us. The room with sea view was excellent, and we loved the private pool. The sea view rooms face north, so get no sunshine throughout the day. Unfortunately, the hotel has no pool other than the small private ones and very limited outdoor space ( there was one space with only 4 sunbeds, and this was permanently in use by early rising sunbed hoggers. The local beach is very close to the hotel, but it is very narrow and absolutely rammed throughout the day, with sunbeds all taken up from quite early in the day. This, of course, is not the fault of the hotel, but it seemed surprising that a new upmarket hotel should not have been designed to provide more external space and a large pool. The outstanding features of the hotel, for us, were the delightful staff and the overall attentive service we enjoyed. We did experience a few adverse issues one day, but the response from management and staff was outstanding. Breakfast was very good for a relatively small hotel and was made particularly enjoyable by the delightful young serving staff. Thank you, particularly Harry, Bindi, and Katarina. Nearby is an extensive selection of very good, reasonably priced tavernas and restaurants.

A truly 5 star hotel. Amazing rooms with private pools and wonderful views over Ageia Pelagia bay. The food at the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was a great choice. The thing which made it the best were the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they always had smiles on their faces. We are looking forward to seeing Jonny,Yannis,Chris, Maria and everyone else next year.

My most favourite hotel to date ! The room was spacious and the private plunge pool on the balcony was larger than we thought it would be. We stayed in the aqua marina suite which looked out over the village and beach. The sun really hits there around 12:30/13:00 and stays well into the evening. We had breakfast included and the restaurant looked out over the sea , the food was excellent. All restaurants and bars etc were right outside the door . We have a late flight and we’re allowed to stay in the room for a couple hours extra, our pick up point was a different hotel and the lady at reception arranged a car for us all free of charge. Prior to that we are able to leave our bags at reception and shower before we leave in the spa. Staff were amazing and housekeeping is Bob on. All in all , HIGHLY recommend this hotel for a relaxed stay in beautiful surroundings

Super suite on the top floor. Great views and peaceful. Good food and wine served well. Private parking and a lift to all floors. A quality modern hotel. Evening entertainment by Karma Duet, at just the right volume so one can speak to dinner partners. Great mix of tunes.

My wife and I came here for our 41st anniversary, after reading the fabulous reviews. Pela (room manager) offered us a very good deal to upgrade to an Amber Suite, after I contacted the hotel to arrange flowers and champagne on our arrival as a surprise for my wife. However, when we arrived,we had been upgraded again to the Diamond Ambassador VIP Suite on the third floor, a large room with massive King size bed, a bath (!), his and her sinks, a small sitting room with a 2nd 50” tv, two balconies (one shady which was needed!) and the plunge pool overlooking the sea - which was a good size, we had many an afternoon floating around enjoying the view! The rooms are cleaned each day, great quality shampoo / conditioner / soaps provided, a safe in the room which was free, electric curtains (great fun opening these in the morning to admire the view!), a nice breakfast served every day on the most amazing terrace - this is a luxury hotel. We ate at the hotel for our anniversary, beautifully presented food, great wine, the most attentive service - it really is a special experience. All in all a fantastic holiday, we met some lovely couples (shout at to Jason & Alison!) and had a holiday we will remember. The only problem is now my wife Lyn will want this level of luxury all the time!

Arrived on 16th June, my husband had previously contacted Pela (rooms manager) to arrange a preferred room that would suit our requirements and she certainly didn’t let us down. We were allocated the Amber suite on 2nd floor, amazing views over the bay, beautiful room, spotless, everything about this hotel is first class luxury. All we could ask for and more… staff so friendly and strive to give you the best holiday experience, nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing and the hotel dining is highly recommended! A beautiful relaxing retreat. We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for the most relaxing and amazing holiday xxxx

A lovely boutique hotel with super-friendly staff who will do everything possible to please. The food is definitely to fine-dining standard and is beauitifully presented. We knew that because of my wife's limited mobility we would not use the plunge pool so booked a Moonstone Suite without the pool, but were quickly advised that Moonstone Suites are only accessible by stairs. If you have walking difficulties or are possibly in a wheelchair and therefore know that you will not use the plunge pool, be aware that only the Aquamarine Suites Mountain View with Plunge Pool are entirely free of steps once inside the room, so even though you may not be able to enjoy the plunge pool it is necessary to stay in the Aquamarine Suites Mountain View.
